| WEDNESDAY 12TH; |
| first day of a week long vacation. FEELS JUST ABOUT RIGHT. !! but also and more importantly: awaited depeche mode concert night. let's go... |
| first off, please allow me to say: FANTASTIC latest album "memento mori". as skeptical as i can be about every new release from any singer/band, this one really took me by surprise. strong influences from the past and super catchy. love love love. |

| so many people @ the bell center. too many people @ the bell center!!!! π€¬ i mean..... it's terrific that there's that many people to attend a concert, however not so good towards my sense of claustrophobia. not sure why but i felt the discomfort x100 this time around. luckily there was no one sitting in front of my seat nor anyone to my right (well planned, self *pat*): |
| with that being said though, the older couple sitting to my left was slightly annoying. throughout the entire wait for the show to begin, the man sitting directly next to me would constantly gaze at the crowd but allllwayyyys while turning his head around to the right side; my side. 'scuse me but left side towards your wife/girlfriend, no? UGHHH. then his woman got on her cell phone—most likely chatting with another person she knew was there but sitting elsewhere in the audience. she kept on telling that other person where she was sitting, but said other person did not get it. "ben oui j'suis lΓ juste au dessus d'oΓΉ la zamboni passe pendant les matchs de hockey, tu m'vois pΓ’Γ’Γ’??! j'allume la flashlight sur mon cellulaire R'GARDE J'SUIS DEBOUT LΓ J'TE FAIS DES BA-BYYYES. TU M'VOIS PΓΓΓ?!?!! AU D'SSUS D'LA ZAMBONI." ad nauseam. f*ck. does it really matter that much?? if so, just move your ass towards your friend. opening act hasn't been started yet. goddamn. |
| opening act was boring as hell to me so i went to take a walk around the bell centre instead. came back in time for DM π: |

| here i am now sitting at this blank blog space waiting for an outpour of words to sum up the experience from seeing depeche mode live for the 8th time in my lifetime. well, seems as though my mind is as equally blank at this space. *poke poke* time sure flew by, didn't it..... |
| ok so i'm now convinced the man sitting next to me was ONLY there to accompany his wife/gf. maybe he lost a bet with her and she got to drag him there? bwahahhaha. because, no clapping whatsoever for any of the songs..... cheering, even less so. couldn't even fake it. *laughs* wow. i'd yet to see something like that happening at a show. |
| first observation: crowd's average age group keeps going up & up every single tour. yeah yeah i know....figures. ha! utter kid/teen-free zone. |
| dave is starting to look more and more like one of those old uncles at a party; albeit a FUN party. πππ but the fact that he still keeps going with so much energy at 60 years old = kuddos & much respect!!! |
| as per usual, overly not a fan of the projection tour videos featured in the background. in DM's case, yes i'm pointing at you, anton. a bit WTF with donkeys + absolutely hated the mime thing over "everything counts". way to spoil a classic for me. |
| we didn't get "condemnation"! boohoo. other cities did, but then again i can't exactly complain since they played "waiting for the night" instead. which is one of my ultimate favs. also would've gladly exchanged "john the revelator" for "policy of truth". |
| all in all an enjoyable evening. not my best DM memory for sure, but one to include imperatively nonetheless. thanks for keeping the fire alive, dave & martin. xx |
